Tomorrow I am going to an all-day thing at a Columbus church for divorced Catholics--after stingy-pants gave me the money to pay for my journey he said, in his jocular way, "have fun!" I still don't think he gets this divorce thing at all.Not at all.
Anyway I am looking forward to it, to sharing tears, grief, hope and determination with a few courageous souls who, like me, just won't give up! I was thinking about it all today and I found something to compare a divorce to. At least mine. Have you ever been in an earthquake, even the teeniest tremor? It is quite frightening--there goes the earth, the one most dependable aspect of our physical surroundings. Well a divorce is like that. The most dependable thing --the rock your life stands on--is suddenly trembling and quaking and there is absolutely no other place to run. You have to adjust to it by learning to walk crookedly, to keep your balance in the world that went crazy.

he said it again--sweet.
